Something really cool happened while building the blogHUD

Since knocking together this little site and HUD system, it strikes me that something really cool is happening. I somehow feel more ‘connected’ with people. It’s a great feeling and I wonder how many other HUDslingers feel the same.

As the posts go by on bloghud.com, and also on Tao Takashi’s WorldofSL.com, from RL I can watch the news and stories of experiences or issues just keep on coming. I love it!

It’s a ‘River of Life’ – teaming with RSS. I get to connect with people who share my passion for virtual worlds, coding, creativity and innovation. Priceless.

Also, there was this magical feeling when I got my head round learning how to connect to other blogging systems – something I had avoided doing for ages – and realising what could happen here. I know I’m not alone in doing this process too, btw. There are all these SL blogs out there , where the authors have to leave SL and go to post back in RL. Surely, that must be a pain. You might lose the moment of inspiration which triggered you to post in the first place.

So, I have to say it was incredibly cool to just get more support for external blogs working. Cool because there are people out there, already posting about SL, on their own blogs, hosted on their own servers, who can now say something in SL and have it suddenly appear on their RL blog.  When you try it – and you see that first post, I think you’ll see what i mean about that magical feeling! :)

Happy HUDslingin’! :)

Explaining RSS the Oprah way

Just spotted this great post about explaining RSS to your mum, dad, etc ;)

Good stuff!

OK! Self-hosted WordPress support has been added!

When you log into bloghud.com and access your member profile (by clicking your name at the top of page) and go to add your external blogs, you will be asked for the url to your WordPress blog, when you select the WordPress type.

No need to add http:// when you enter the url. And please enter the full url to your WP blog, even if it is not in your webroot folder. eg: www.myhostedblog.com/myblog/

Please let me know by commenting on this post if you have any issues.

Once this is fixed up, it will be Movable Type for the HUD! yay!

Who is this ‘kosso’ anyway?

I am a 'Createc'. A creative technologist, entrepreneur/ hacker/ geek. Worked on building things on the web for over 12 years.

Used to work at BBC News interactive and created the publishing and delivery systems for video news to get distributed on huge screens in major railway stations around the country.

I left the BBC to become CTO / sole-lead architect/developer at podcast.com for three years.

I have now left them to build a start up a new system called 'Phreadz', which is a 'Social Multimedia Conversation Network', integrating everything that is 'V.I.T.A.L' to us on the web. Video, Images, Text, Audio and Links.

I built the whole thing my myself and will soon be looking for funds to expand the team and system to make it available to launch.

There are currently happy and helpful 500 (closed) beta testers on the system so far and one client of a white-labelled solution.

Phreadz has a business model, which is already working.
