Apple XP Boot Camp!

Wow. Apple are officially supplying some software for the new Intel-based MacBooks which lets the user install their copy of WindowsXP alongside the Mac OS X, providing a dual-boot setup!

Now, I'm just about to get in the market of choosing a new laptop, as the one I have just doesn't have enough grunt to do the things I want to do, while on the move. This could well be the solution I have been looking for, as I like to use a Mac too, to test things and also to utilise the great UNIX-like development system (Darwin) which the Mac OS X has under the bonnet. The 'Boot Camp' software will appear in the next release of OS X, due for preview in August.

I wonder how well my Windows apps will perform though, compared to native Windows/Intel setups. Also, will this present a load of support issues with those apps that might not work correctly, once people intall them to this new platform.

Surely a matter of a short time until we see some benchmarks appear from people who have tried this.

I don’t see why any apps would work incorrectly. It’s not like XP is going to be running in an emulator or anything.

I highly recommend picking up a MacBook Pro. I’ve been using one of the revision D MacBooks for about two weeks. It’s been flawless.

I am currently working on a MacBook Pro 2,16 with 7200rpm drive and this thing really flies 🙂 OSX is a dream and I played around a bit with BootCamp and WinXP … the fastest I have seen windows perform. You won’t be dissapointed…

Who is this ‘kosso’ anyway?

I am a 'Createc'. A creative technologist, entrepreneur/ hacker/ geek. Worked on building things on the web for over 12 years.

Used to work at BBC News interactive and created the publishing and delivery systems for video news to get distributed on huge screens in major railway stations around the country.

I left the BBC to become CTO / sole-lead architect/developer at for three years.

I have now left them to build a start up a new system called 'Phreadz', which is a 'Social Multimedia Conversation Network', integrating everything that is 'V.I.T.A.L' to us on the web. Video, Images, Text, Audio and Links.

I built the whole thing my myself. I programmed every line of code and positioned every pixel. I'm looking forward to attracting an hiring new members of the team to help me out! :)

There are currently over 1000 happy and helpful beta testers on the system so far and one client of a white-labelled solution.
