Chief Twit Brings UStream Down

After I saw about 630 viewers on Leo Laporte’s U-Stream of his Tech Guy show it went down. I think the UStream server did pretty well. Apparently the local one will take 1000 concurrent viewers – so now now the ‘server is full’. I hear that there is a backup for this, using a dedicated CDN provider. If you didn’t realise it, much of Chris Pirillo’s U-Stream output from Podcast Hotel has been coming form the dedicated service.

Here’s how it went down.
(BTW: Someone asked Leo to put the keyboard on his head – so he did 😉 )
I’m sure that Brad from U-Stream has more to worry about at this time – I hear a baby is imminent! Good luck with EVERYTHING!!! 🙂

UStream on a Wii!!!

Well, once I realised that I could do the Flash required to get UStream on a Nokia N800 in the previous entry, I swiftly hacked together an interface for the Wii.

I have some very interesting ideas and plans for content on mobiles and consoles. But you’re going to have to wait until I get further down the road to a ful lbeta on for that! 😉

Live UStream video on the Nokia N800!

Wow. I really didn’t expect this to work, but it does!!

I was able to quickly create a Flash 7 file which connects to the live video being streaming from Chris Pirillo at the Podcast Hotel in San Francisco!

Gobsmacked! 😉

This is just the beginning of something very, VERY cool!

Who is this ‘kosso’ anyway?

I am a 'Createc'. A creative technologist, entrepreneur/ hacker/ geek. Worked on building things on the web for over 12 years.

Used to work at BBC News interactive and created the publishing and delivery systems for video news to get distributed on huge screens in major railway stations around the country.

I left the BBC to become CTO / sole-lead architect/developer at for three years.

I have now left them to build a start up a new system called 'Phreadz', which is a 'Social Multimedia Conversation Network', integrating everything that is 'V.I.T.A.L' to us on the web. Video, Images, Text, Audio and Links.

I built the whole thing my myself. I programmed every line of code and positioned every pixel. I'm looking forward to attracting an hiring new members of the team to help me out! :)

There are currently over 1000 happy and helpful beta testers on the system so far and one client of a white-labelled solution.
